(HARRISBURG) – The Tioga County Conservation District has been awarded $25,430 from a state Growing Greener grant to reduce pollution and improve water quality, according to Senator Joe Scarnati (R-Jefferson).
Scarnati explained that funding from this grant award will be used for the Canoe Camp Creek Watershed Improvement Project, which will undertake multiple stream stabilization projects in the Watershed. The goal is to stabilize 2,000 linear feet of streambank, reducing sediment by an estimated 1,250 tons per year.
“I congratulate the Tioga County Conservation District for receiving this substantial funding,” Scarnati said. “Preservation of our environment is a vital investment for future generations. This grant will go a long way toward helping the Tioga County Conservation District with this important project.”
Scarnati said this grant is made available through the Growing Greener Program, which is funded by the Pennsylvania Environmental Stewardship Fund.
