BVK, Inc. Awarded $172,500 State Grant To Develop Warren West Industrial Site

BVK, Inc.  in Cheswick has been has been awarded a $172,500 state grant to aid in the pre-development work for the seven-acre Warren West Industrial Site in Warren City, according to Sen. Joe Scarnati (R-25).

The Business in Our Sites (BOS) grant was approved by the Commonwealth Financing Authority today.

"This is a great example of using a Brownfield site for business growth and expansion," Scarnati said. "I’m pleased that we are making this investment in Warren County and providing new opportunities for job-growth."

Scarnati said the Brownfield site is located along Business Route 5, the city’s major east/west route. He said it currently contains a number of abandoned and blighted industrial buildings that have caused numerous environmental problems and had a negative impact on the surrounding community.

"This grant will enable those eyesores to be removed so that the site can be developed to accommodate a minimum of 100,000 square feet of new construction," Scarnati said. "It will be marketed to industrial and manufacturing companies, and is expected to directly employ between 75 and 100 people."
