Scarnati: Stewart Enterprises Awarded Grant to Purchase New Energy-Saving Equipment

Stewart Enterprises of Jefferson County will receive a state grant of $4,200 to purchase and install an Auxiliary Power Unit (APU) which will be used to reduce energy consumption, according to Senator Joe Scarnati (R-25).

The APU will be purchased through a state grant issued by the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection (DEP).  It will reduce energy consumption by eliminating idling during layovers.

DEP's Small Business Advantage Grant Program provides a 50 percent matching grant of up to $7,500 to encourage the implementation of equipment or processes to reduce energy consumption and pollution while helping to increase profitability for small businesses.

"Small businesses like Stewart Enterprises play a vital role in the local economy and job market of the 25th District," said Scarnati.  "I applaud programs such as DEP's Small Business Advantage Grant Program which supports these small businesses, helping them to remain competitive and cut costs."

The program is open to small business owners whose business or facility is located in Pennsylvania.  Eligible applicants must be for-profit business enterprises that are corporations, limited liability companies, partnerships, sole proprietorships or other legal entities that have no more than 100 employees and are a separate legal business entity at the time the application is submitted.
