Statement on LEDVANCE Closure in Elk County

(HARRISBURG) – Senator Joe Scarnati (R-25) issued the following statement regarding LEDVANCE announcing the closure of its production facility in St. Marys, Pennsylvania:

“I am extremely disappointed and frustrated by the recent announcement that LEDVANCE plans to close their production facility in St. Marys later this year.  So many hard working men and women are employed at the facility.  It is distressing to see this closure announcement because of Federal government overreach and Congressional action to phase out traditional energy methods.

“Less than two years ago, I visited the plant in St. Marys and was very encouraged to see that because of a partnership between Sylvania Light Bulbs and Walmart, more jobs were being created.  When speaking with constituents, many often express to me that the greatest concern they have for the future of our state is economic growth and the need for more jobs. Job growth and development are a central component to the economic success of our state.

“In the near future I will be speaking with LEDVANCE as well as reaching out to the Governor, in hopes of keeping family sustaining jobs in our region and preventing this closure from becoming a reality.”
